Pupil Supervisors are able to oversee a pupillage in chambers or in authorised Pupil Training Organisations. In order to become a pupil supervisor (formerly Pupil Master), the barrister should contact their own Inn to request an application form.
Click here to download the Inner Temple Pupil Supervisor Application pack (including the form and extracts from the Bar Training Regulations and Code of Conduct).
Once the form has been completed and returned with all relevant documentation, the Inn will submit the application to the Pupil Supervisor’s Sub-Committee for approval. You must allow at least 4-6 weeks for approval. Please note, the process will take longer during the legal holidays.
In addition, applicants will need to attend a pupil supervisor briefing session at any Inn or on circuit (please contact the circuit directly for details of where and when briefing sessions will be held).
The dates of the sessions scheduled for this year so far as as follows:
- Monday 25 November 2013 at Middle Temple
- Wednesday 26 February 2014 at Middle Temple
- Thursday 1 May 2014 at Inner Temple
For further information, or to register to attend a briefing session please email Francesca Ellis or call 0207 797 8207. Please note that the sessions are open to members of all the Inns.
