Pupil Supervisors must receive training and refresher training that meets outcomes set by the BSB. Sessions are open to members of all 4 Inns. Over a three year period, a research team from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University mapped the nature and extent of ongoing changes to criminal advocacy, identifying a range of practices and issues, and has sought to develop appropriate solutions through a series of recommendations. As the first study of its kind, the project not only analysed how new approaches towards cross-examination have produced change on the ground, but are also making a real difference in terms of effecting cultural change within the legal profession to the questioning of vulnerable witnesses. The team will present the findings from the project at this special event, including a question and answer session, and then the opportunity for informal discussion at a reception afterwards.
