The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple wishes to appoint a Head Gardener.
The Inner Temple is one of the most distinguished gardens in London. It is the largest open space within the busy City of London itself. Located on the Embankment, this award-winning garden is comprised of courtyards, flower borders, historic trees, lawns and public spaces over three acres within the historic estate of this Inn of Court. The succession planting in its herbaceous borders has won widespread praise, and the Garden’s reputation attracts visitors from around the world.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the horticultural features of the Inner Temple Estate. The Head Gardener is supported by a small team of qualified gardeners and volunteers. This post is ideally suited to someone with a minimum of five years professional horticultural experience in a public or private garden, who has excellent communication skills and has completed a full RHS Level 3 Diploma or higher horticultural qualification. Under the leadership of the previous Head Gardener, the Inner Temple Garden was transformed into a beautified and inspiring green oasis for the benefit of the Inn’s community and the general public.
This post offers an opportunity to lead an enthusiastic team in an engaging and vibrant Garden and to take its development forward from strength to strength. Annual salary of £30,000 and other benefits, including free accommodation.
