The Silk Application and Life as a Junior Silk for TECBAR and COMBAR Practitioners A Panel Discussion

Date: 11 May 2018, 5.30pm

Venue: Inner Temple, Parliament Chamber

TECBAR and COMBAR are delighted to announce this panel discussion led by Fiona Sinclair QC, 4 Pump Court, followed by a Q&A session.

Confirmed panelists include:

  • Mrs Justice Carr DBE QC
  • Penelope Reed QC, 5 Stone Buildings and member of the QC Appointments Panel
  • Hannah Brown QC, One Essex Court
  • Lucy Garrett QC, Keating Chambers
  • Jawdat Khurshid QC, 7KBW
  • Marion Smith QC, 39 Essex Chambers

The panel will discuss the silk application process and the speakers’ experience of the process as applicants, referees and junior silks. The panel will emphasize the particular issues arising for commercial practitioners. Drinks will be provided after the event to allow attendees the chance to chat informally and discuss any topics with panel members and other attendees.

We welcome attendance by all practitioners (barristers and solicitors) and practice managers working in technology, construction, commercial, and similar practice areas who are interested in understanding the silk application process. This includes both those actively considering an application and more junior practitioners who want a better understanding of what the application and life ‘in silk’ entails.

This event is organised by the TECBAR and COMBAR Equality and Diversity Sub-Committees and has been generously supported by Inner Temple.
