The Inner Temple to Unveil Portrait of The Master of the Temple, The Reverend Dr Robin Griffith-Jones

At a Private Guest Night on Wednesday 10 June, the Treasurer hosted a special unveiling of a new portrait of the Master of the Temple, the Reverend Dr Robin Griffith-Jones, by renowned artist Richard Foster RP.

Commissioned by The Inner Temple, the portrait marks the Master of the Temple’s distinguished tenure and 27 years of service to members, professional tenants, residents and staff of The Inner and Middle Temple, as well as to a wider congregation and international visitors. The portrait will hang in The Inner Temple.

The Temple Church, first consecrated in 1185 and known as the ‘mother church of the Common Law’, has played a pivotal role in English legal history since the mid-13th century. The Rev’d Robin Griffith-Jones, an Honorary Bencher of The Inner Temple, will retire as Master of the Temple on 31 July 2026.
