Admitted to Inner Temple in 1990 as a major scholar and a Governing Bencher since 2010, Helen Davies KC has given long service to the Inn, including as Vice Chair of the Scholarships and Outreach Committee, a member of the Executive Committee from 2015 to 2022 and the Inn’s Trustee on the Council of the Inns of Court during the development of the ICCA Bar Course. Joint Head of Brick Court Chambers and one of the leading commercial silks of her generation, she became the first female commercial practising barrister to be elected Treasurer of an Inn of Court.

Called to the Bar by The Inner Temple in 1988 and a Bencher since 2010, Lady Justice May has a long record of service to the Inn, having chaired both the Qualifying Sessions Committee and the Education and Training Committee alongside volunteering at student training events. Now a High Court Judge of the King’s Bench Division, she was appointed Chair of the Sentencing Council in October 2025.

Called to the Bar by Inner Temple in 1983 and a Bencher since 2011, Tracy Ayling KC has devoted much of her service to the Inn’s advocacy training, becoming a Teacher Trainer in 2008, chairing the Advocacy Training Committee from 2015 and continuing to teach pupils and new practitioners at home and overseas. A criminal silk practising at 2 BR Chancery Lane, she has also served on the Executive Committee and is a Trustee of both the Temple Music Trust and the Temple Church.

Mr Dorey has had a distinguished career in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, serving at various times as Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti and the African Union; and to Hungary; plus spells as Deputy Head of Mission in Hong Kong and Pakistan. He holds a Masters degree in Modern History from Exeter College, University of Oxford.

Responsible for governance, such as the election of Governing Benchers and committee memberships. Manages international initiatives and events (Secretary to the International Committee). Supports the Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Sub-Committee with development of policies, initiatives and advice related to EDI issues (Secretary to the EDI Sub-Committee)

Key point of contact for the Treasurer and the Sub-Treasurer (CEO). Supports administration of governance and international activities.

Trained on the Diploma at RHS Wisley, Sean went on to prestigious roles for the RHS, National Trust and Kensington Palace before joining The Inner Temple in 2018. Throughout his career he has studied plants all over the world including Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the gardens of Kyoto and the High Line, New York. Since taking over the Inner Temple Garden, Sean has worked closely with Deputy Head Gardener Sophie and the team, to evolve the Garden into a dreamlike, plantsperson’s oasis, with artistic and ecologically minded planting at its core

Sophie trained at the Inner Temple Garden and at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, followed by the Master of Horticulture with the RHS. She takes a particular interest in biodiverse planting schemes for city greening focusing on sensible, resourceful and sustainable horticultural practices. In the garden and as a committee member of the London Gardens Network, Sophie takes great pride in sharing knowledge, skills, experiences and to provide learning guidance to encourage future horticulturists.

Trained on the RHS Level 2 at Capel Manor College whilst volunteering at the Inner Temple Garden in 2016. Now, after working in private gardens in and around London and completing the RHS Level 3, she’s back as a member of the Garden Team since joining us in 2022.

Imogen trained on the RHSL2 at Capel Manor college before joining The Inner Temple in 2024. She has lots of experience working in public and private gardens and has a keen interest in sustainable and ecological gardening.

Trained as a Level 2 apprentice at Grosvenor Estates, he joined The Inner Temple Garden as a trainee in September 2024. Working towards the RHS Level 3, he is passionate about ornamental horticulture and its role in supporting the environment.
