The Inner Temple Students' Association (ITSA) cordially invites you to their annual Christmas Party. Come and join us to celebrate the winter break and end of the year. We will announce the winner and runners up of the annual ITSA Essay Competition. 'The Appeal Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury - The Court of Arches: Ancient and Modern' Prof Norman Doe KC (Hon), Director of the Centre for Law and Religion, and Inner Temple Bencher Morag Ellis KC, Dean of Arches and Auditor, and Gray’s Inn Bencher Norman Doe will talk about the historical development of the Court of Arches from medieval times and at and beyond the Reformation of the sixteenth century, in terms of its origins, jurisdiction, officers, processes and contribution to ecclesiastical jurisprudence. Morag Ellis will take up the story from the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Act 1963 and speak about the work of the Court if Arches today and its place in the judicial system of the modern Church of England.
