The Right to Fair Trial in the Age of AI: Current challenges and next steps

There are genuine concerns about how to have fair trials in the age of AI. AI tools are developing rapidly, but they are not yet a substitute for qualified legal reasoning, human judgment, or tailored legal advice. At the same time, many judges and counsel are deploying AI in their preparation and execution of proceedings, often without formal oversight and training. In this webinar, we will draw upon research in multiple jurisdictions to consider the potential benefits of AI in enhancing efficiency and access to justice as well as the guardrails that are needed to ensure the upholding of international standards of due process.
