Historic Trials of Soldiers
Speakers: General Sir Nick Parker KCB CBE DL
other speaker tbc
Moderator: Sir Geoffrey Nice KC
Does the proposed Northern Ireland Troubles Bill provide genuine legal certainty for those lawfully deployed by the State, or does it institutionalise continued exposure to investigation and prosecution under a different mechanism? The speakers will examine whether the proposed legislation is fair and proportionate or whether it risks undermining the spirit of the Good Friday Agreement and the State's ability to draw a line under the Troubles and move forwards (for both victims and veterans) in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.
The event will be delivered in person and online. The session will include an opportunity for Q&A and for post-talk networking.
