The Inner Temple is pleased to announce that Greg Dorey CVO has been appointed as Sub-Treasurer (Chief Executive Officer) to succeed Patrick Maddams Hon FRIBA in March 2018.

Mr Dorey has had a distinguished career in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, serving at various times as Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti and the African Union; and to Hungary; plus spells as Deputy Head of Mission in Hong Kong and Pakistan. Mr Dorey holds a Masters degree in Modern History from Exeter College, University of Oxford.

Speaking of the appointment, the Treasurer, David Pittaway QC, stated:

“We are looking forward to welcoming Mr Dorey to the Inner Temple and at a time of both challenges to our legal profession and opportunities for the Inner Temple. We consider that Mr Dorey has the experience, personality and skills for the role.

Finally, the Inn is tremendously grateful to Mr Patrick Maddams, who retires after 12 years of dedicated service. The Inn has grown from strength to strength during his tenure and during which time many projects have been initiated and valuable partnerships established.”

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Dorey said:

“I am greatly looking forward to joining the Inn as its Chief Executive Officer and working with its Benchers, members and staff to maintain and further develop its high reputation at home and abroad.”
