The Bar of Northern Ireland is welcoming applications from Monday 2 March 2026 until Friday 20 March 2026, guaranteeing decision by Friday 20 March 2026 for practitioners who wish to practice without Bar Library membership in 2026.
Please note that to obtain Exemption from Bar Library membership, you must have been Called in NI and have met all other requirements set by the Bar Council of NI.
Should it be your intention to practise as a barrister in independent practice in Northern Ireland in 2026 you will either have to seek Exemption from Bar Library membership or join the Bar Library. You will also be required to apply for your Practising Certificate simultaneously.
