It is with much regret we report that Master Austin-Smith (Michael Gerard Austin-Smith QC) sadly died Monday 15 August, aged 77. The Inn’s flag was flown at half-mast on 20 September in his memory after the period of national mourning for Her Majesty The Late Queen Elizabeth II.

Master Austin-Smith was Called to the Bar by The Inner Temple in 1969 and took silk in 1990. He was Recorder from 1986 to 2014 and a Department of Trade and Industry Inspector from 1988 to 1990.

Master Austin-Smith was elected a Governing Bencher of the Inn in 2002.
