Murray Pickering QC

It is with much regret that we report that Master Pickering (Murray Pickering QC) sadly died on Wednesday 11 May, aged 87. The Inn’s flag was flown half-mast on Tuesday, 17 May, in his memory.

Master Pickering was Called to the Bar by The Inner Temple in 1963. He practised from 20 Essex Street principally in commercial law, banking, financial transactions and international commercial arbitration. He took silk in 1985 and was appointed as a Recorder in 1992. Master Pickering was an elected member of the Bar Council from 1987 to 1992 and was a Vice-Chairman of the Professional Conduct Committee in 1991 and 1992.

Master Pickering was elected a Governing Bencher of the Inn in 1992. He was a member and subsequently Chair of the Inn's Estates Committee and later on a frequent attender at the Inn’s social and collegiate events, including lectures and Call Night ceremonies.

A memorial service will take place in the Temple Church at 6pm on Tuesday 18 October, members and staff wishing to attend should email wszwed@innertemple.org.uk to confirm attendance.
