It is with much regret that we report the death of Master Scruton (Professor Sir Roger Scruton FBA FRSL). He passed away peacefully on Sunday 12 January, aged 75, after a 6 month battle with cancer. The Inn’s flag is flying at half-mast today, Monday 13 January, in his memory.
The conservative philosopher and government advisor was the author of more than 50 books on aesthetics, morality and politics. He was a founder of and contributor to the Inn's Social Context of the Law Series. He was elected as an Honorary Bencher of the Inn in 2015.
