Inner Temple's Law Society of Singapore Affiliate Scheme

The Inner Temple’s Law Society of Singapore Affiliate Scheme offers members of the Law Society of Singapore a unique opportunity to strengthen professional ties with barristers practising at the Bar of England & Wales, and to enjoy exclusive access to selected events, services and benefits of the Inner Temple.

Why Join?

As an Affiliate, you can:

  • Attend lectures delivered by distinguished speakers, including Social Context of the Law Lectures, Readers’ Lectures, and International Panel Discussions
  • Participate in selected events organised as part of the Inn's Established Practitioners Programme, offering professional development and training resources
  • Enjoy in-person privileges such as lunch in the Inner Temple Hall, access to the Inner Temple Library, private bar access and discounted rates for venue hire and accommodation.
  • Receive digital resources, including the quarterly InnerView newsletter, Yearbook, and recordings of past lectures
  • Arrange bespoke tours, talks, seminars, and educational events on the Bar and Judiciary of England & Wales and the history of the Inns of Court

Who Can Join?

Lawyers who are practising members of the Law Society of Singapore are welcome to apply for the Affiliate Scheme. Applicants must be in good professional standing; verification checks are conducted with the Law Society of Singapore.

Please note, Affiliate status does not confer membership of the Inner Temple nor rights to practise at the Bar of England & Wales.

If you are a qualified solicitor or lawyer from another jurisdiction and you wish to practise as a barrister in England and Wales, you need to transfer to the Bar. Details can be found on the Bar Standard's Board website.

The Inner Temple is a not-for-profit organisation. The Affiliate subscription fee reflects the high degree to which we subsidise our events and services. The subscription will be payable digitally once your application has been accepted.

Practising Singaporean lawyers with under five years of experience: £150 for a three-year subscription

Conduct and Expectations

Affiliates are expected to uphold professional and ethical standards, reflecting the values of the Inner Temple. Misconduct may result in suspension or termination of Affiliate status.

Terms and Conditions

Please read the full Terms and Conditions, including details of eligibility, benefits and exclusions, conduct and fees before applying for the Affiliate Scheme. In order to join the Scheme you must confirm that you have read and understood the Terms and Conditions.

How To Apply

Please complete the application form via the link below. You will be asked to provide contact details, your Call date and Admission Number for the Law Society of Singapore and a short biographical statement about your practice and professional interests.

Once an application has been received, The Inner Temple will undertake checks with the Law Society to confirm the applicant's details and eligibility for the Affiliate Scheme. The Inner Temple reserves the right to exclude an applicant from the Scheme if information comes to light as a result of such enquiries which calls into question the applicant’s suitability for Affiliate status.

Once the relevant checks have been undertaken, you will be contacted with details about how to pay the subscription fee. Following receipt of the subscription fee, registered Affiliates will be provided with digital confirmation of their status and relevant login details to be able to access the Members’ Area of the Inn’s website for the purposes of accessing services and booking events.
