The Rt Hon Lady Justice Simler was educated at Henrietta Barnett School, Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge and the University of Amsterdam. 

In 2002 she was appointed a Recorder, QC in 2006 and became a judge in the Queen’s Bench Division in 2013. In the same year she was also chair of the Equality and Diversity Committee of the Bar Council of England and Wales, and head of Devereux Chambers. From 2016 to 2018 she was President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal. In 2023, she was appointed a Justice to the Supreme Court.

She is chair of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion sub-committee of The Inner Temple.
