The first woman General Counsel of the Serious Fraud Office

Sara Lawson was called to the Bar in 1990 and was appointed a Bencher of The Inner Temple in 2015. She practised as a highly experienced criminal and regulatory barrister. Prior to taking Silk in 2017, she worked for the Insolvency Service as Standing Counsel and as member of the Government Regulatory A List, prosecuted on behalf of the Health & Safety Executive, the Office of Rail & Road and the Environment Agency.

In 2019 she became the first female general counsel of the Serious Fraud Office replacing Alun Milford, who left the post in late 2018 after six years working for the SFO.
