Elected as a Barrister Governing Bencher in 2022

PLEASE GIVE DETAILS OF YOUR CHAMBERS/ORGANISATION AND MAIN PRACTICE AREA(S).
I am a tenant at Deans Court Chambers in Manchester and 3 Raymond Buildings, practicing in Inquest, Inquiry, Judicial Review and Regulatory law.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BECOME A BENCHER?
The ability to “give back” to Inner Temple after years of kindness and support.

HOW DID YOU GO ABOUT FINDING THREE BENCHERS TO PROPOSE YOU?
I was lucky enough to be approached by Benchers on Circuit who wanted to nominate me and so I was very lucky that the three Benchers found me.

HOW HAD YOU DEMONSTRATED YOUR COMMITMENT TO THE INN BEFORE APPLYING TO BECOME A BENCHER?
Advocacy training, mentoring, interviewing for Scholarship and Bursary awards, attending Inner Temple events on Circuit.

IN ONE SENTENCE, WHY DO YOU BELIEVE BEING A BENCHER IS REWARDING?
It gives you a real reminder of the privilege and honour of practising as a barrister - in particular when assisting students seeking pupillage.

NAME SOMETHING ABOUT THE INN YOU HAVE LEARNED SINCE BECOMING A BENCHER?
Access to the beautiful gardens.
