Breakdown of Awards
Named Scholarships
There are 7 Named Scholarships available each year. These are awarded to those that receive the highest marks, against the Inn’s scholarships criteria.
The value of Named Scholarships are not means tested. The awards available are:
Peter Taylor Scholarship – £22,000
Stephen Chapman Scholarship – £21,000
Princess Royal Scholarship – £20,000 (5 of these available)
Major Scholarships
There are 20 available Major Scholarships awarded each year, to the next 20 best scoring candidates.
The value of each Major Scholarship is determined by financial means assessment. Currently, the minimum award is £3,000, and the maximum award is £20,000.
Exhibition Scholarships
There are approximately 93 Exhibition Scholarships awarded each year to those who performance very well against the scholarships criteria.
The value of each Exhibition Scholarship is determined by financial means assessment. Currently, the minimum award is £3,000, and the maximum award is £20,000.
Benefactors Scholarships
There are 18 Benefactors Scholarships & Prizes available.
These are awarded in conjunction with Exhibition Scholarships, to the top 18 scholars in the Exhibition Scholarships tier.
Duke of Edinburgh Awards
There are 50 Duke of Edinburgh Awards awarded each year.
They are awarded based on financial assessment, and each award is £188.50 to contribute towards the cost of membership admission fees and Call to the Bar fees.
