You may already be aware that the Bar Council is pursuing a number of initiatives to enable the provision of childcare facilities and support for members of the Bar, Chambers’ and Bar Council staff on both a local and nationwide basis.
The Bar Council recently launched the 'Bar Nursery at Smithfield House', a central London childcare facility in partnership with Smithfield House Children's Nursery.
What does it offer?
The Bar Nursery offers flexible childcare facilities near the Inns of Court and offers special rates for all members of the Bar, as well as chambers staff and Bar Council employees.
It is located close to the Old Bailey, in Smithfield Market, and is open to children aged eight weeks to five years between 07:00 and 19:00, five days a week. The long opening hours are designed to help those whose practice involves extensive travel to appear in courts all over the country.
The nursery offers flexible full-time and part-time day childcare packages, and importantly also emergency packages to cater for those who face unexpected problems with their existing childcare or who are listed at short-notice in court in central London.
Book a place on an Open Day and further information
The facilities at Smithfield House Children's Nursery are outstanding. The team would be happy to show the nursery to any prospective parents who are considering childcare facilities in London.
