Information for scholarship holders

Your year as a scholarship holder:

Accepting your place (February/March)
  1. If you have been notified via email that you have received a scholarship, you will need to respond directly to the Pegasus Trust (Pegasus@innertemple.org.uk) to confirm your acceptance of your place.
  2. You will then need to complete the acceptance module on the application portal. Please log into the portal and submit the acceptance documents:
    1. Pre-placement survey. This is a short survey regarding your expectations of your placement, as well as an opportunity to provide feedback about your experience with the Trust so far. The questions will directly correlate with the post-placement survey.
    2. Undertaking form. This form [link here] outlines your responsibilities as a Pegasus scholar and ambassador for the Trust. It is imperative that it is signed and returned at the point of acceptance.
  3. Letters of confirmation. We will require uploaded letters from either your Head of Chambers and Head Clerk or your employer to confirm that they are aware of your placement and consent to your going on placement and the pause to your work.
  4. Banking details. You will be asked to provide banking details in order to receive your award at a later stage.
Declining your place

If you would like to decline your place, please write to the Trust within 2 weeks of receipt of the offer.

Introductions (March/April)
  1. We will look to make introductions between hosts and scholars in March and April, dependent on the availability of the hosts.
  2. Host descriptions can be found here [link to partnerships page].
Ahead of placement (April onwards)
  1. Prior to undertaking placement, please check your stipend (your award letter will confirm the amount of stipend as well as who it will be funded by).
  2. For travel booking, please see the travel booking policy on the policy page.
  3. Procuring visas is the responsibility of the scholar. Please reach out to the hosting partners for more information on visa requirements. The Trust will be able to provide support letters to confirm your award, but the hosting partners will be able to advise on further information.
Undertaking placement
  1. Placements take place between April and December for the most part. Some are flexible, whilst others have specific dates. Please see your award letter for more information.
  2. Whilst on placement, your main point of contact will be the host in-country, but the Trust remains on hand to provide support where possible.
Post-placement
  1. Post-placement, we ask all scholars to complete the post-placement survey and return a short article (no more than 900 words) outlining the placement and key takeaways from the experience. This will be used for the website and the yearbook.
  2. The Trust is always looking for chambers hosts to host incoming scholars. If this is something you would be interested in upon your return, please sign up here.
