Students who receive a GDL award from the Inn and successfully complete their law conversion course will automatically receive a Bar Course award of the same value, with no further interview required. This guarantees a minimum level of funding from the Inn throughout their studies for the Bar.
GDL scholarship holders are also encouraged to apply for a higher award for their Bar Course. Applications should be submitted in the autumn before their Bar Course begins. Applying for a higher award will not affect their guaranteed funding.
Applicants who are unsuccessful in obtaining a GDL award may reapply in the next application round. They may also apply for a Bar Course Scholarship once they have obtained a Qualifying Law Degree.
