QS Travel Subsidy Scheme

The Qualifying Sessions Travel Subsidy Scheme is intended to assist Out of London students with travel costs to Qualifying Sessions held in London.

Eligibility

• You must be a current student at a Bar Course Provider based outside of the South Eastern circuit.

This excludes:

• • Bar Course students who have completed or are resitting the course/exams
  • Bar Course students who study with a South Eastern circuit provider but live elsewhere
  • Transferring Legal Professionals

• The cost of travelling to a Qualifying Session in London must be prohibitive to your attendance. You will be asked to answer some questions and provide a basic income and expenditure declaration and a supporting statement.

• You must have already booked your ticket to one or more upcoming Qualifying Sessions held in London. If your application is refused and you choose not to attend as a result, you can apply for a refund for any tickets booked, in accordance with our refunds and cancellations policy.

Once a subsidy has been processed, it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure the amount granted is used as intended. The Inn will not award any further subsidies if the money has not been used for its intended purposes.

This scheme will be open to student members until the beginning of June 2027

Important notes

• This scheme is not intended to reimburse students for all travel costs.
• There is a separate travel support scheme for Student Advocacy Weekends. Further information about  this support will be provided if you are allocated a place at one of these weekends.
• The maximum amount of support available to any member is:
  • Travel to 3 Qualifying Sessions
  • 1 Accommodation top-up
  • This does not renew. Once you have reached the limit we will not make any further awards.
• Members can make multiple applications throughout their studies (for example, an application in each term of the academic year) within the above limits.
• Please apply in good time for the event that you are attending to avoid disappointment or unnecessary financial pressures.

How much will I get?

Students can expect the following amounts per event after a successful application, dependent on their Bar Course Provider:
