The Bar Standards Board (BSB) requires all pupils to complete a Pupils’ Advocacy Training Course before commencing their second six of pupillage.
The Inn delivers two advocacy courses each academic year. Course A takes place between October and November and Course B between January and February.
Those undertaking pupillage outside of London and the South Eastern Circuit would ordinarily complete a course offered by their Circuit, rather than at the Inn. Details of all Circuits can be found on The Bar Council website.
Upcoming course dates can be found below.
To book a place on our course you must register your pupillage with the Inner Temple. Once you have done so you will be added to the list. A member of the team will be in touch closer to the time with further information.
If you are not an Inner Temple member, your Inn will need to refer you directly in order to be considered.
Course fee: £31.50
The aim of the Pupils’ Practice Management Day (PMD) is to provide useful, practical information, directly from judges, clerks, solicitors, barristers and accountants about all aspects of managing a practice at the Bar.
The PMD is a full day programme which takes place once a year at the Inn. The PMD is not compulsory, but attendance is encouraged!
The date of the next PMD will be announced shortly.
PMD fee: £10.80
