'Sub-Treasurers of The Inner Temple'

Ever wondered why Inner Temple sticks to the title 'Sub-Treasurer', when all the other Inns have opted for 'Under Treasurer'. Why was a traditionally militarised zone demilitarised? Were relationships between Sub-Treasurers and their Treasurers always trouble-free? The Sub-Treasurer, Greg Dorey CVO, looks back at his predecessors over the centuries and attempts to answer some of these questions.
