The President of the King's Bench Division on the subject of judicial independence in the modern age: past, present and future.

Dame Victoria Sharp DBE was called to the Bar in 1979 and took Silk in 2001. She was appointed as a Recorder in 1998, a Deputy High Court Judge in 2008 and a High Court Judge of the Queen’s Bench Division in 2009.

She was Presiding Judge of the Western Circuit from 2012 to 2013 and was appointed a Lady Justice of Appeal in 2013, and Vice President of the Queen’s Bench Division in 2016.

She was sworn in as the President of the King’s Bench Division in 2019, the first woman to hold the position.

Registration (with refreshments) will be from 5.30pm, and the lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.
